ShareAction are a responsible investment charity and their research and ranking on the financial system incorporates all of the largest players, including asset managers, pension funds, insurers and banks.
On January 11th 2024, ShareAction published its fifth edition of the Voting Matters report, assessing how 69 of the world’s largest asset managers voted on 257 shareholder resolutions to address current environmental and social issues.
Europe takes a leading role
The report shows Europe taking a leading role in supporting resolutions. The top 26 asset managers are European and voting in favour of 88% of resolutions vs 25% for their US counterparts.
Amundi’s overall 98% score compares to an average of 45% among the rest of the top five largest ETF issuers in Europe7 and overall, Amundi ranks #3, a 22-ranking gap to the next ETF issuer.
Engaging for change: Voting and engagement policies
Exercising voting rights in a consistent and transparent way is considered by Amundi as a key element of its responsible investor stance, and one of the two pillars of its stewardship philosophy, together with engagement.
As such, Amundi’s voting policy, updated each year, reflects its holistic analysis of all issues that may influence long-term value creation. It is consistent with Amundi’s active ownership approach and therefore rests on a diligent and multidimensional analysis of each company.
